Spincast Reels: With these reels the line comes off the top of the spool while casting. The spool which runs parallel with the rod remains enclosed by a cover that features a port where the end of your fishing line exits the reel. The spool remains stationary until you use a thumb button to cast. As you release the button your bait or lure will propel your line. The ease of spincast reels makes them a good choice for novices. They′re reliable and lack complexity.
After cleaning wipe the reel down with a rag soaked with a protective coating like Aluma Guard Reel magic or WD-40. A light coating of liquid furniture polish will also work. Be careful to avoid contact with the line or handle grips.
Oil bearings. "Clean bearings with lighter fluid. That'll remove all the dirt and grunge from them. After they're cleaned make sure they spin. That's very important because it'll tell you they're clean. Oil them with TG's Rocket Fuel — medium viscosity — one drop per bearing. Again use a toothpick."
